The Role: Our Head of Butchery will develop and implement comprehensive strategies for our Hamilton butchery branch, aligning with overall company objectives to drive organic sales growth. You will cultivate strong client relationships, exceed expectations, and foster long-term partnerships.

The job:
As the Head of Butchery, you will develop and implement growth strategies in line with our business objectives. Your main job responsibilities include:
Maintain and grow key client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction
Set and manage budgets, optimise expenses, and maintain gross margins
Lead and mentor functional managers, setting performance expectations and policies
Collaborate with the sales team to develop and grow key accounts
Address and resolve customer concerns
Represent the branch at industry events to enhance business presence
Oversee daily operations, including production scheduling, inventory management, and quality control
Champion food safety and quality initiatives, including policy reviews and training
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

The Person:
Our ideal candidate will be someone who is self-motivated and passionate, with significant experience in strategic planning. You should possess a strong understanding of organizational risk, compliance, and legal and regulatory requirements in New Zealand. Additionally, you should be able to think conceptually and anticipate the long-term impacts of decisions, including their financial implications.
You would have:
Relevant tertiary or trade qualification
Five or more years of experience in GM/operational management, preferably in the food service or butchery industry
Deep understanding of the butchery industry and its dynamics
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business strategies
Strong understanding of sales, business development, and operational best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience with meat and poultry, small goods, and value-added areas
Knowledge of business processes and functions (operations, sales, procurement, logistics, finance, HR, etc.)
Strong understanding of margins and costings
