The team in Ward A5 at Christchurch Hospital enjoys working in a busy general surgical unit with a focus on colorectal surgery. No two days are the same in this fast-paced team that focus on peri-operative care and recovery.
As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 3/Profile 3.

We are looking for a passionate Ward Clerk to join Ward A5 on a part-time basis (working 24 hours a week. The hours are days of work are: Tuesday 4-8pm, Wednesday 4-8pm, Thursday 4-9pm, Friday 4-9pm and Saturday 9-3pm.
Ideally, we are looking for a candidate that has a strong administration background coupled with great customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Meet and greet patients and whānau
Confidentiality – check with patients and whānau on how they would like their name displayed or not
Management of phone calls into ward/unit
Contact person for the ward/ unit and communicate between departments
Supply and equipment ordering
Manage patient bookings
Manage the rostering system
Process patient information and records

Experience using a Patient Management System (desirable)
Intermediate Microsoft Suite Skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Very high levels of confidentiality
Communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work unsupervised and have high levels of initiative
A willingness to help those around you
Organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Able to pick up and use new systems and technology
