Technical Advisor - Water Loss Investigations

The remuneration range for this role is $71,769 to $101,321 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience, so join us and play a critical role in reducing the loss of our wai (water).

The opportunity
As a technical Advisor you will be key to ensuring that water leaks across the Wellington Region to ensure remedial efforts are focused effectively, this will require you to work alongside other technical experts, subcontractors and play your part to ensure the prioritisation of urgent leaks and leak information is identified, recorded and bundled accurately.
Day to day you will:
Operate leak detection equipment, pressure monitoring and pipe location equipment to support investigations and identify location of leaks.
Engage with customers where required, providing required advice to customers. Your ability to communicate effectively will be highly valued.
Sample water leaks as required to determine the water source and to confirm seepage into the network.
Carry out onsite investigations of customer called in water leaks and customer inquiries. This is to accurately pinpoint location of leaks and information to ensure correctly set up work orders to our delivery teams for action in timely manner.
Oversee contractors to support in investigations, including carrying out audits to ensure accuracy of information.
Escalate and deescalate investigated triage leaks to ensure leaks are appropriately resourced & responded to in the correct timeframes.
Implement level 1 traffic management or engage approved specialist traffic management contractors for more complex traffic management requirements where required.

About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
A relevant approved technical or trade qualification Level 4 Reticulation or Level 5 Infrastructure Works qualification or relevant Civil diploma/degree
Familiarity with water reticulation maintenance and construction standards is beneficial. However, we are committed to providing training to help you develop these skills.
Experience in water infrastructure repairs and investigations is advantageous. We welcome candidates who are eager to learn and grow in this field.
Full New Zealand driver’s licence
Strong written and verbal communication skills
